Step 1: Invite MEE6 to your Discord server
First, visit the MEE6 website and invite the bot to your server. The invitation process for bots is the same for all, but it’s important to note that your Discord account needs to have “Manage Server” or “Administrator” permissions for that server in order to invite the bot. Otherwise, you won’t be able to send an invitation.
Additionally, before inviting the bot, make sure you are logged in to your Discord account. If you are not logged in yet, the system will redirect you to the Discord login interface.

Step 2: Setting up Instagram post notification
Before proceeding with the setup, it’s important to note the following two points to avoid any error messages:
- Make sure you’re not using any VPN software.
- Make sure you’re not using any ad-blocking plugins.
Step 3: Enable Instagram Alerts plugin
After successfully inviting the MEE6 bot to your server, go to the MEE6 website backend and enable the “Instagram Alerts” plugin. To disable this plugin later, you can use the same method to turn off Instagram Alerts.

Before enabling, a confirmation window will appear. Click “Activate Instagram Alerts” to enable this plugin.

Step 4: Configure Instagram Alerts
Next, you will enter the settings page for Instagram Alerts. Click on “New Instagram account” to set up tracking for a new Instagram account.

There are three options to configure in the notification settings:
Option 1 – Instagram(Account): Enter the Instagram account for which you want to receive notifications. The system will display search results, and you need to select the correct account from the options presented.
Option 2 – Message: Set the text message to be included in the post notification. You can also specify user roles to be tagged (using “@” before the role name) or channels to be mentioned (using “#” before the channel name).
Option 3 – Post in channel: Choose the Discord channel where you want to see the notifications for the latest posts. If you created a new Discord channel while having the MEE6 web dashboard open, remember to refresh the page (press F5) or wait a few minutes before trying again. This ensures that the newly created Discord channel appears in the options.
Box 4 – Save & Close: After configuring all three options, click “Save & Close” in the top-right corner of the screen to complete the setup.

If you want to make changes to a previously configured Instagram account, simply click on the account you want to modify. To delete the settings for a specific Instagram account, click the three dots on the right-hand side.
